99th Annual Student Art Show

Art Direction: Chris Larberg

The Fred Jones Jr. 99th Annual School of Art and Art History Student Exhibition featured works across multiple mediums and various topics. The challenge came in creating a unifying brand that captured the essence of each individual as well as the show itself.

The entrance to the exhibition features strings wound around nails to create the “99,” suggesting that each individual and their work create the show. The brand also depicts the meticulous and understated process behind art and creativity.

The posters' designs focus on the show and the audience. The first poster uses imagery of the nails and string to reinforce the concept of the show, while the second poster represents the viewer. Creating the “99” with the strings rather than the counter space suggests that this series completes the other by filling in the gaps. The show highlights the artists, but the brand highlights the importance of the audience.
